Dean Lewis

Took Tiah-Mai Ayton through 21 unbeaten amateur bouts, five national titles and a world under-19 gold. Runs the floor on the principle that technique is what grit becomes once somebody bothers to shape it.

DEPUTY COACH

Simon Flett

Holds the pads, keeps the rounds honest, and runs the beginners' groups where most members meet the gym for the first time. If you are new, you will meet Simon before you meet a ring.

Conditioning floor. Sled, rope and the bell. Heat is not regulated in here, and that is the point of the room.

Twenty-one amateur bouts, twenty-one wins. Five national titles, then gold at 57kg in the World Under-19 Championships in Colorado, beating India's Anjali Singh in the final. She signed a long term promotional deal with Matchroom in May 2025 and knocked her professional debut opponent down twice inside three rounds.

Every member is read these once, on the first night, and never again. After that they are assumed.

    Arrive Before You Are Ready

    Motivation is weather. Attendance is architecture. The door opens and it does not wait.

    Grit Is Raw Material

    Rage wins nothing on its own. It is ore. The work of this room is to smelt it into technique.

    Control the Distance

    Every fight is a negotiation over one measurement. Whoever owns it rarely has to be brave.

    Respect the Loser

    They came. Half the town did not. When the bell goes, the opponent becomes a colleague again.

    Leave the Floor Clean

    Wraps binned, ropes wiped, bags stilled. The room is inherited every morning by somebody else.

A sparring round, drawn entirely from points. Watch how the darker fighter works: short, straight punches down the middle, hand back to the chin before the other one has finished swinging.
